Sarasota, FL, April 3, 2020 – RFRain LLC, an innovator in manufacturing RAIN RFID hardware and software, announced the launch of its next gen Smart Reader, the RFR-RAIN-4-SMART-ADV, purpose-built for mobile RFID, access control and bleeding-edge AI implementations.
The Advanced Smart Reader, RFR-RAIN-4-SMART-ADV, includes now a dual-USB slot. The addition of another USB port enables customers to benefit from multiple features, with support of GPS, cellular capabilities, and support of a camera to work in conjunction with the RFID system.
The GPIO control enables access control for applications such as door access ways and smart cabinets. The Advanced Smart Reader also comes with a built-in 1,820 mAh Li-ion battery. This enables the reader to work on moving vehicles and worst-case scenario store data during the event of power outage. The reader will continue to run for 1,5 hours, allow data to sync to the Zone Manager Enterprise cloud and prevent data loss. In mobile applications such as truck or forklift applications, the reader will continue to run even during frequent stops. The 4-port reader also has a power switch for fail-safe shutdown.
The Advanced reader does not require additional hardware or software to enable a user to start monitoring assets in real time using the Zone Manager software that comes pre-installed on the RFID reader. Data on the Smart Reader can be stored on-premise or in the RFRain cloud and can be accessed from anywhere using a web browser. Developers can easily integrate with existing enterprise software systems through Rest API.
The Advanced Reader is ideal for Smart Cabinet solutions, Doorway Access Control, Baggage Tracking with Image Recognition, Asset Tracking or Person Tracking on transportation vehicles, Asset Tracking with forklifts, and others.
“The introduction of the RFRain Smart Reader is a significant step toward simplifying RAIN RFID implementations for a variety of needs. In effect, the RFR-RAIN-4-SMART-ADV reader meets the needs of customers that want to combine multiple technologies for their particular applications.
Starting at $1,428, with customizable add-on features, there is finally a reader that does not require a power source and can be installed almost anywhere,” says Danny Akaoui, CEO and founder of RFRain, ”Our goal is to drastically simplify the installation and deployment of RFID systems in any industry by providing feature-rich readers that are easy to install, integrate, and priced right.
The RFRain Advanced Reader will be on display at the RFID Journal LIVE! 2020 (Orlando, FL, September 9 – 11).
